We kept on wearing t-shirts that screamed the names of foreign cities for years, even though Istanbul is the most beloved city in history. Mavi, a world renowned brand, not only dealt with the subject but evaluated the rich multi-faceted city of Istanbul, that creates a different perception with its beauty, contrasts and chaos, with a t-shirt designing competition.
As expected, 2944 designs entered the “Design a T-Shirt for Mavi Istanbul” competition organized through the website www.istanbulatasarla.mavi.com. The user-friendly site was designed with the necessary tools to enable participants to prepare their designs according to the competition criteria. With Facebook, Twitter, Friendfeed integrations, competitors were given the opportunity to benefit from social media in order to gather support for their designs.
In addition to the design entries, the Mavi Istanbul T-shirts Collection is available for viewing and can be purchased from the web site.
The competition continued with the public voting through the website. The top five nominated designs will make it into the finals and the winning design will be evaluated and selected by the Mavi Design Jury and the decision will be announced on July 11. The winning design will take its place in the collection of Mavi Istanbul T-shirts and will be produced and sold in the first upcoming season. Furthermore, its designer will be awarded with a cash prize of 2000TL. The top three designers with the highest number of votes will win a Mavi Gift Check worth 300 TL and their Istanbul t-shirt designs will be produced as a single t-shirt and officially presented to them. Also, every one hundredth voter will win a Mavi t-shirt.
